Today, I am sharing with you what type of goals to establish for short and long term and I am also sharing my 2018 goals! After, I will be sharing some inspirational quotes and motivational tips in this post to help you bring in the new year!
2017 Year in Review
2017 was an amazing year. Click here to see what goals I set for myself! I accomplished 98% of these goals! Can you guess which ones?
Hello everyone and, welcome back to my blog. If you are new, Hi! You can find out more about me here. Make sure you keep up with me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook for behind the scenes sneak peaks of upcoming blog posts!
Do you know it’s impossible to motivate someone? Shocker! Motivation is a self act that comes from change. Unfortunately, the only person we can change is ourselves. What motivates me to do something may not be the same thing that motivates you to do the same thing. In order to be motivated, you have to ask yourself a few questions. What motivates you? Think about your current job, your hobby, the city you reside in or, even your relationships. What motivates you to keep going? Think about what keeps you in the city that you are in if you are trying to leave? What is motivating you to stay in a friendship/relationship? What are your expected outcomes/goals? Motivation is self taught and no one can motivate you to do something you see no prosperity in. What helps me every new year with finding my motivations and end goals are;
- bullet journal for thoughts
- yearly planner to keep myself on track of goals
- Pinterest (make boards of things that interest you to spark creativity)
- photography (make yourself a vision board mural like I did here for under $25)
- Bloggers/influencers (it’s important not to compare yourself to others. I like to jot down tips I love that I find another blogger is doing to spark my own creativity)
There are many times when you set a goal for the new year and around mid January you find yourself giving up. Why do we give up? Are you on a time limit? Do you not have the resources needed? Is someone stopping you? It’s important to think about why you set the goals you did do for yourself and understand which one of those goals are attainable in a year.
Aspirations are long term goals. They sound like,
“This year, I am going to get a promotion ” or “This year, I am going to fall in love”. Aspirations are out of your control and they shouldn’t be set as new years goals. You can work as hard as you can at your job and your manager may no offer you that promotion. You could be in a relationship, or single, and try your best to make things work but love is not something that happens over night, it’s out of your control.
Aspirations work well when they are visually in front of you and a constant reminder of what you want out of life. I made a vision board showcasing my aspirations and what I want out of life. You can learn how to make your own vision board here for under $25.
Task Oriented Goals (short term)
Task oriented goals is something that can be controlled and put into action immediately. These goals sound like,
“I am going to start reading more”- you can easily pick up a book
“I am going to start eating more healthy”- start looking up some healthy recipes
Task oriented goals are the best goals to make for the new year!
