It’s been a great week so far in this new year! I ALWAYS wanted to write a bucket list but never got around to it. Well, no more excuses! That’s my motto for 2017, no more excuses. My bucket list isn’t going to have anything too extreme or out of reach but, I want to push myself more this year to be more adventurous. I have so many goals and plans in mind for my own growth and I am excited to share them with you all. Let me know if you have a similar bucket list to this. Also, on December 31st, 2017, I will re-visit my bucket list and see how many of them I actually accomplished! I will share with you my success and failures. That being said, here is my 2017 bucket list!
My 2017 Bucket List
I would love to know what’s on your bucket list for this year! Make sure you are following me on Instagram and Twitter and Pinterest! These are the social media sites you will see all my adventures for 2017! Don’t forget to subscribe to this blog (that yellow button at top!) so that you are always notified when I post so you can get the full details on everything…plus it’s free!
1. A’s in all of my classes
If you don’t already know, I am a graduate student! I am getting my International MBA in Social Media Marketing and I am so excited for the course work load ahead of me. My first bucket list goal of 2017 is to have A’s in ALL of my classes by the end of the year! I didn’t have such a great G.P.A in undergrad so I am shooting for a 4.0 G.P.A when I graduate! By the end of this year, I will have taken 5 classes and I want to ace them all! Watch out for all my college blog posts to help you if you are in undergrad or graduate school. 2. Fluent in Spanish
I am most excited about this adventure on my bucket list. I love languages and I could speak them all but, haha one at a time. Ok, so I have taken 5 years of Spanish, one year was a college course. You would think 5 years would make you fluent…sadly not in my case. For me, I wasn’t using Spanish a lot in everyday life. I can read it, write it and understand it very well but when it comes to speaking it (or someone speaking to me very fast in Spanish), I choke! Currently, I am a manager in retail and the mall I work at is a tourist mall where 96% of the tourists speak only Spanish. Everyday, I am surrounded by Spanish speaking natives who need my help and I want to finally be able to carry a conversation with them without any help from my peers (all of my coworkers are Hispanic as well) So with the knowledge I already possess, an amazing language learning app I love, called Duolingo and, my Hispanic friends at work, I plan to speak fluently in Spanish by the end of this year. To me, fluently means I can hold a conversation with a Spanish speaking native for at least 10 minutes without ANY help. That is my test!
3. 5 week long trips (International and around the U.S)
This bucket list adventure has been a long time coming. My motto, no more excuses, definitely starts with traveling more. Make sure you go read all of my travel posts here for a better understanding of why I love to travel and how I plan on affording it. This year I want to take 5 weeks out of the year to travel. I racked up some vacation days and I am ready to use them! So far, these are my travel plans:
- Atlanta, GA (March 2nd-7th)
- Amsterdam, The Netherlands (May 1st-8th)
- Paris, France ( May 1st- 8th)
- New York, New York (Aug. 10th-15th)
- Unknown! (most likely a cold destination sometime from Sept-Oct)
I also plan on doing a lot of local traveling and discovering where I live now (Orlando) and around surrounding cities like Tampa, Miami, Ft. Myers and more!
4. Running a race
This is one bucket list adventure I always wanted to do! I am a little more motivated now because a lot of my coworkers do marathons and always invite me and I always have an “excuse” haha! I do want to run for a good cause though! To say that I have ran a 3 or 5k would be amazing! So I will keep you posted on which race I end up joining!
5. Grow my blog
This was the most scariest bucket list adventure that I decided to go through with and I am glad I did! In the first 3 months I started my blog, I have received so much support and growth within my blog. 2017 is the year for even more growth for Happily Ever Poor. That being said, make sure you are following my Instagram and Twitter and Pinterest! I must say, my Instagram theme is amazing and aesthetically pleasing lol! But on a serious note, I love blogging, coming up with new content, and helping you girls who are having trouble living your life the way you want to on a low budget. I would also love to monetize my blog somewhere down the road this year. Besides monetization, I hope to collaborate with other bloggers (check out my first guest blog post over at Budgetgirllife blog here) and meet more people on my blogging adventures.
My goal this year for blogging:
- Blog subscribers: 50 (current=2)
- Instagram followers: 2000 (current=1000)
- Twitter followers: 1200 (current=522)
- Facebook likes: 800 (current=398)
- Pinterest followers: 500 (current=88)
- Bloglovin’ followers: 250 (current=100)
- Blog monetization: $50
6. Take a helicopter ride/ air balloon ride
Ok, I had to put something extremely adventurous on this bucket list right? I really want to view a city from a bird’s eye view. So to do that, I need to do something that is going to take me up very high. I have decided to do a helicopter ride across the city or a hot air balloon. I can’t wait for this adventure!
7. Raise my credit score by 100 points
My credit score is horrible…like horrendous. If I can bring my credit score up by 100 points by the end of this year, I would feel so much better about my life haha! I need to start getting my overdue bills in order and I can’t wait to keep you guys updated throughout the year.
8. Talk to my parents more
I love my mom and dad which is why this bucket list item is very important to me. I speak to my parents maybe once a week, and that is enough for some people. We have to realize that as we age, so do our parents and I want to value every time they have left! I want to start talking to my parents at least every other day!
9. Becoming more aware
This bucket list adventure is interesting. I am not a “watch the news everyday” type of person and I need to be. I need to be aware of what’s going on in the world today. That being said, I want to be caught up more on current events. I also want to invest more of my netflix time watching history documentaries. If you don’t know, I love history! History always repeats itself and if we know our history we can avoid future mistakes. I just want to me more economically aware of the world we live in, SO by the end of this year I plan to drop all the knowledge I have learned this year!
10. Growing my hair longer and healthier
In 2016, my goal was to reach bra strap length (bsl) which I achieved! Now I want to grow it to my mid/lower back area. Shrinkage is hell, so when I mean lower back I mean when my hair is stretched. I have a lot of dead ends now that I need to really cut off to start fresh but check out my natural hair posts here to see how I transitioned from relaxed to natural and grew my hair to BSL in only 3 years.
11. Learning to love myself…even more
This bucket list adventure might be the hardest but definitely not impossible! I love myself, don’t get me wrong, but like most, I struggle a lot with myself. I am always second guessing my looks or crying myself to sleep because I put to much pressure on myself. This year I just want to learn more about ME, love ME for who I am and surround myself around people I do not have to be different around. Once I can 100% love myself, I have no problems in this world I cannot face. Look out for upcoming posts on loving yourself coming soon!
