First of all, if you are only in the blogging business to make money and be famous, then this post isn’t for you. This post is for the hard working micro-blogger, whose content show originality, integrity and authenticity. If you have over 10k followers, great! But, this is for the micro-blogger, I am talking only 1k-3k followers on social media and small page views on your blog per month. As a micro-blogger, numbers aren’t everything when it comes to working with brands. I have worked with brands as a micro blogger with less than 3k following on all social media platforms. Find out how you can start working with your favorite brands today!

What is a Micro-Blogger
I am so excited to be sharing this post with all of you! First, let me define to you my definition of a micro-blogger. A micro-blogger is a blogger who has a more engaged audience that are loyal and active. These bloggers usually have a smaller following (1k-9k) and focuses on a certain niche (fashion, travel, video games, etc).
Why Brands want to work with Micro-Bloggers
I don’t know if you noticed, but brands are slowly moving away from influencers who have a large following and I am taking every bit of this opportunity. Even marketing consultants are starting to educate brands to shift their focus off “how many followers” an influencer has but more on how the influencer engages with their following. When a brand works with a micro-blogger, they will be reaching a smaller audience but, this audience will most likely be more engaged and active about spreading “the word” because they are loyal to the influencer sharing the information.
A micro-blogger offers a brand organic growth over time, originality, authenticity, real followers and a shared passion for the brand’s product if the blogger/influencer niche is a good fit for the brand
What is conversion? Why is it important?
Brands are all about conversion, basically how much money an influencer can bring in for them. At the end of a day, a business needs to make smart business decisions to earn a profit and conversion is one way they do it through reaching out to bloggers or influencers.
Here is the best way I can interpret conversion.
I am a manager at a fashion retail chain and conversion is a huge goal for my team. If a person walks into my store, makes a purchase then walks out, my conversion increases. Let’s say a person walks into my store, doesn’t purchase anything and walks right out, this ruins conversion. That means I wasn’t able to turn that person into a returning customer. SO conversion is the percentage of how many people are turned into loyal customers. Conversion increases a store’s sales volume over time. More loyal customers, more money being spent. It’s that simple. The same process is the way with brands and bloggers. Brands are shifting towards mirco bloggers because they want to increase their conversion rates through key indicators like comments, likes, clicks and buys.
What affects conversion?
Engagement affects conversion! If you don’t remember anything else from this post, please remember that! I can’t tell you how many large bloggers/influencers do not talk back to their following, it’s sad and pathetic! There is no excuse not to engage with your following. They follow you for a reason and if you can’t take the time to thank them or write back to a comment then you will start losing your following. As a micro-blogger myself, I follow a famous Instgram influencer and she has 1 million followers. She tries her best to answer 300+ comments a day. That’s someone who is reachable, attainable! Someone who really cares what their audience thinks. That’s what brands are looking for. If you aren’t engaging with your following, then brands will not want to consider you for future projects. Keep that in mind.

On Instagram, I have a little over 1800 followers, I have 250 blog subscribers, 670 twitter followers and, 410 followers on my Facebook page. Let’s add that up. Ok…so that’s 3,130 people that love what I do. I use to look at my favorite brands and think I could never work with them because my numbers were “low”.
This post is here to tell you that that is NOT TRUE! As a micro-blogger, I have had paid collaborations with my favorite brands that are very familiar to you! Ever heard of Walgreens? Burlington? Kiss Nails? Jordana Cosmetics? Mochigrams? Well, even if you haven’t heard of them, these are some of my all time favorite companies that align with my niche and I have reached out to all of these brands and they all wanted to work with me! It wasn’t my numbers that helped me with collabs, it was my engagement, my authenticity, originality, my pitch and, what I could offer as a micro-blogger. It was how close I was with my followers and how I really wanted to help them! Brands love that!
