As a blogger and a grad student, I need an office space that I could escape to and get all of my creative work done. Living in a 731 sq foot apartment makes it hard to create that space but definitely not impossible. So, I turned my dining room, yup that’s right, into my office area! I revamped my office space from the first time I put it together all under $50!(including furniture). Check out my first office space tour here to get even more ideas! Step in to my Office Space
Hello love, and welcome back to my blog, I missed you! If you are new here, hello! My name is Niqueea and you can find out a little more about me here. I have a stunning Instagram (I’d like to think so lol) that you can check out as well as a Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook page that you can go follow to keep up with me! Don’t forget to hit that big yellow subscribe button at top so you are always notified by email when I post something new! Plus, it’s free. Now on to this post!
Figure out your budget
When I first created my small little office space, the first thing that came to mind was setting a budget. I just moved and I didn’t have that much money left after all expenses it took me to move in the first place. I set a budget of $50 to help start my office space and with that $50 I actually created a workable space! Once again, check that out here!
Now, that I had time to save up more money, I wanted to revamp my space! I bought a new office table because the one I had was too small and I also redecorated my office wall! My new budget to decorate my new office space was now $200!
Find your theme
I love bright open spaces when it comes to working on my blog posts or homework. Mauve is my favorite color and I love travel photos. This became the basis of the theme I wanted to go for. When you create a theme, you create something that tailors to you and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Figure out what you like, what you like to be surrounded by, your favorite colors. Start from there and you will come up with loads of ideas.
This is my favorite part of creating a small office space! Decorations show who you are and in a way, can help with inspiration for creative thoughts!
Idea 1 for a small office space: Using Contact Paper
Why did I just find out about contact paper?! Contact paper can turn any budget small office space into what looks like something more expensive.
The first thing I wanted to revamp is the new desk I bought on Amazon. I bought this marble contact paper from Amazon as well and I applied it to the table, instant glamour!
Idea 2 for a small office space: Floor length mirror
I don’t know a blogger, or girl in general, who doesn’t have a floor length mirror somewhere in their home. I was out of the loop for a while because floor length mirrors can be pricey. So, I headed over to Burlington to find some one to lean on my office wall. I found this lovely white, floor mirror for only $40! To spruce it up even more, I bought some Christmas lights from Wal-Mart to drape around the sides. The frame of the mirror is plastic so I used some push pins to keep the lights in place.
Idea 3 for a small office: Decor
Now that I had most of my furniture, I need to make it feel more like home! I went back to Burlington and picked up this lovely canvas for only $16. You will see other pictures surrounding the canvas I bought from Burlington, and these are actually a D.I.Y. project I did for $1 (each picture)!
Also from Burlington (can you tell I love this place) I bought some animal decor such as gold and silver owls, elephants and giraffes (my favorite animals). Honestly, these pieces can go up to $15 each and you can find them at Burlington for literally $4 each!!
Idea 4 for a small office: Office supplies
I love anything to do with school or office supplies! You see all these bloggers with marbled notebooks and copper planners and all of that and honestly, some of them drop major money on them! Not I! Honestly, the dollar section in Target is your best friend! I found most of my supplies there that matched my office theme. All my notebooks and planners usually come from Burlington because they are always under $6!
Create your space
I hope some of my pictures in these posts give you some inspiration on building your own office space! If you are still stuck, there is always Pinterest as well!
